Jump 10

 Jump 10
Students are required to create a game based on an object and a task.

Group Members: Alexandra Joe, Ishita Shah, Garrett Tillman
Object: Die
Task: Jumping

Inspirations:
Checkers
Tic-tac-toe
Cup Tricks

Game Pieces:
Die
Cups
Board

Original Rules:
1. Player 1 will place a cup -upside down- on each square. Underneath one cup you should place the die (player 2 should not see you do this.)
2. Player 2 will mix up the cups -while upside down- causing them to mix up the placement of the die (player 1 should not see you do this.)
3. Player will pick any cup that is on the outer edge (this will be your cup for the rest of the game) and move it anywhere along the board (vertical, horizontal, diagonal.) You must jump/skip one square for our first move. After that you can move to any cup that is next to you. (Take turns with this step for each player)
4. You cannot move backwards.
5. The player that reveals the die game will earn 2 points and the player that covers the die will earn 4 points. After the die has been revealed and covered the first game is finished and you start again. Player that earns 10 points first is the winner.

Game Test Results

1. The rules of jumping is confusing to P1 and P2. Does P1 jump one block or two blocks?
Horizontally, vertically, or diagonally on each turn?
Players are uncertain if they should jump every other grid (XOX) or if they can simply move one block away(XX).

2. Both players did not use the same cup to play the game. Each player switched different cups every move to jump.

3. Once the die was revealed by P1, P2 did not [know how to?] move the cup to cover the die.
P1 took more than enough steps to finally get to the die and cover it.

4. Once the die was covered, both players assumed the game ended.
No player reached ten points.

5. Both players are unclear how to set up the board, cup, and die.

Game Test Review
1. Since jumping over cups (every other grid) will only allow one player to access the die, the rules have been modified to let players move one block away when there are no cups in the way. The rule of not moving backward maintains.

2. Players should use the same cup.

3. Players did not know how to move, rules should be more clear.

4. The game is called Jump 10, players are supposed to get to ten points.

5. Setting up should be included in the rules.
P1 hides the die, P2 scrambles.

Revised Rules:
1. 2-4 players max
2. Main objective of the game: Get the die! Players jump over each other's cup to reveal the die and then cover it.
3. To start, player places cup on a 4x4 grid board.
4. Each person scrambles the cups before playing the game with the die hidden underneath.
5.Players pick a cup they like and stays with it during the same round.
6. Can only jump once each turn.
7. Each turn, players can move anywhere (diagonal, left, right, up, down) as long as you jump over a cup, but cannot backtrack.
8. The person who reveals the die cannot pick it up in the same turn.
9. The player who reveals the die gets two points, the player who covers the die gets four points. Once the die is covered the round is over.
10. The player who reaches 10 points win.
*Can be used as a drinking game!
